How to do research in TS?
In this lecture, Professor Pym will introduce the basics of research in translation studies for young scholars and identify some ways of thinking about writing up research. He will give some suggestions to do research projects through providing some of the conceptual and methodological tools.
Professor Anthony Pym is currently Distinguished Professor of Translation and Intercultural Studies at Rovira i Virgili University in Spain and Professor of Translation Studies at University of Melbourne. He has served on editorial boards of several international academic journals on Translation Studies. He was former President of the European Society for Translation Studies, and served as a researcher or faculty member in several well-known universities around the world.
With a strong multi-disciplinary background in translation, communication, comparative literature and sociology, professor Anthony Pym has profound and unique insights in the intercultural nature of translation, the translator’s multi-cultural identity, the ethics of professional translation and other various professional fields.
Professor Pym is also a productive writer in Translation Studies with over ten specialized publications and more than 300 papers and articles. Moreover, he has organized nearly 30 conferences and seminars, and participated in about 20 research projects.
